Conspiracy theories are far from a new phenomenon. They have been a constant hum in the background for at least the past 100 years, says Prof Joe Uscinski, author of American Conspiracy Theories. Conspiracy Theories are like Rabbit Holes. The more you read, watch or listen about them the more interesting they get.

We as humans are drawn to these theories. Our brain is good at recognizing patterns and regularities in everything. But sometimes we overdo this. We see meaning and significance when there actually isn't. Essentially we see some coincidences around big events and we make up stories about them.

These stories become a conspiracy theory because they often include 'goodies' and 'baddies' - where the latter is responsible for most things we don't like.

Are Lizard People real? Is Earth Flat? Are we just some smart aliens pets living in his personal locker? I don't have answers to these questions. But I know some shows and movies that might answer some of these questions.

If you are willing to go down the rabbit hole and you are not sure which conspiracy theory to dive into first then here are some shows and movies that I find interesting and believe you might too.

1. THE FAMILY: IT'S NOT ABOUT FAITH, IT'S ABOUT POWER

Forget about 'Illuminati controls everything' according to this doc-series, an enigmatic yet religious Christian group of people known as ' The Family' is the one that you should be worried about. This was a group with 'connections' all around the world. They controlled ( still control) all the money and real power in the United States. Each episode tries to uncover the secrets of this Family. It shows how the state and the Church worked together but not for the wellbeing of the people. But for the power. The show has testimonials of people who support or have different opinions about 'The Family' throughout the series which makes it more intriguing.

The show is available on Netflix.

2. WORMWOOD
